Some applications require actuators to be able to reliably perform under harsh conditions. Food, chemical, medical, and pharmaceutical industries are typically rough on equipment, but other industries can be equally damaging. Several options are available to extend actuator life and increase overall performance.
- Stainless steel cylinders and parts are often used to combat harsh environments.
- Electroless nickel plating (EN option) offers excellent chemical resistance, high abrasion and corrosion resistance.
- Specialty paint jobs can sometimes provide additional protection in certain environments.
- Individual components sometimes need additional protection. Most parts can be manufactured from different materials, which allows for great design flexibility. Solid brass or stainless steel pistons and Delrin® rod bushings are two examples; many others can be created as well.
